Just finished watching the already-famous Wall-E;

After all the colorful positive reviews in different articles blabbering about the bitterness and loveliness of this movie, an IMDB rating of 8.7/10, and exciting recommendations from friends, my expectations were very high. To my own disappointment, I didn't like it.

The robots' behavior and interactions were stupid from the basis and didn't make sense at all: Come on! A robot with emotional needs?! Why should an engineer think of designing a labor robot with emotional needs? Maybe it would have made some sense if it was a prostitute robot! Please don't tell me it was meant to imply that the robots had acquired emotional capabilities on their own. that's a horrible excuse.

And to even make it more gay, these so-called robots express emotion exactly the way humans do, by touching each other's hand for example. It may look cute for the ignorant, but to me it's just stupid.

Could this be more uncreative? In fact the plot's so awkward that I think the writers have written a very cliched heroic love-story plot and then, in the last minute, they decided to exchange the main characters by robots to make it look diverse. I encourage you to imagine this entire movie, only consider the main characters not being robots, being, for instance, a normal human being or something as dumb as a potato. The main characters are totally interchangable as the robot characteristics are NOT embedded in the scenario of the movie. This alone is a bold negative point for this movie.

The cheesy ending is another issue with this movie. The part that Wall-E remembers Eve after his memory replacement, was another part of this movie that tried to be 'cute' but totally made no sense. Also add the coupling of the two, and also the human's sudden excitement (for no particular reason) for starting a new life on a screwed planet, leaving all their comfort behind... again, lack of a strong plot is more than evident.

The movie certainly has it's funny and/or interesting moments, e.g. the lifestyle and bodyshape of the humans. But for a movie claiming to follow the style of "2001 - A space odyssey" [+], it desperately insists on gaining credit by making 'cute' and 'adorable' scenes. Instead, it fails to engage the viewer and make its story digestive... and the cute-looking eyes of Wall-E don't save the movie.
